Belted Galloways II

Canvas | 18" x 24"

Belted Galloways II is an original landscape painting featuring two Belted Galloway cows, affectionately known as “Oreo cows,” standing together beneath a sweeping sky. Layers of soft blue-gray, peach, and pale gold illuminate the clouds, while earthy ochre, rust, and olive bring warmth and texture to the prairie. The pair’s distinctive black-and-white markings add personality to this peaceful, open landscape.

Artist Statement
I’ve been painting pieces I would want in my own home—art with warm, inviting colors, room to breathe, and details that keep drawing me back.

For this painting, it was the two cows standing together that gave the landscape its story.

There is something comforting about their quiet companionship beneath such a big sky. Expressive clouds and layered grasses bring movement to the scene, while the pair feels settled and at ease.

Belted Galloways II brings together my love of open landscapes, unexpected color, and the charm of these unmistakable cows. I wanted it to feel cozy and interesting, creating a focal point that feels comfortable to live with.

A sister painting to Belted Galloway I, this piece can be enjoyed on its own or displayed alongside its companion.
