Belted Galloway I: Original Painting

Canvas | 18" x 24"

Belted Galloway I is an original landscape painting featuring a single Belted Galloway cow, affectionately known as an “Oreo cow,” beneath an expansive, cloud-filled sky. Soft blue-gray clouds meet a glowing horizon, while layers of rust, blush, ochre, and warm neutrals bring texture and depth to the prairie. The cow’s distinctive black-and-white markings create a quiet focal point within the open landscape. Works well with "Belted Galloways II" which can be collected separately.

Artist Statement
I’ve been painting pieces I would want to live with in my own home—art that brings warmth, comfort, and interest to a room, with colors that feel easy to settle into.

This piece grew from that idea.

I was drawn to the charm of Belted Galloway cows and the contrast of their bold markings against a soft, layered landscape. Here, the open sky and warm grasses give this little cow room to simply be.

Belted Galloway I captures the feeling of looking across a quiet field as light gathers along the horizon. My hope is that it brings that same feeling home: a moment to pause, a little personality, and something new to notice each time you pass by.
